How To Best Promote Your Indie Music

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Indie artists have the freedom to control their branding without the "guidance" of major or indie record labels, but this freedom comes with a difficult task of self-promotion. The key is to try to create an image that is different from the mainstream and take promotion into your own hands.

Are you working hard on your music but not dedicating enough time to promote your brand? Do you have a website and social media profiles but are not mentioning them in your media kits? If so, start making the necessary changes. The essence of branding yourself is getting your image "out there" actively and consistently. Do make sure that your image captures your true spirit - real image is easy to express confidently and consistently, while fake is hard to maintain for too long.

Tell your story to the public. When telling it, remember that authentic conflict and tension always help to engage the audience. If you have a touching story about your music, tell it. Connect with people's hearts, and people will remember you, spread the word about you, and invest in you. Your story gives them an additional reason to connect with you, beyond your art. Stay active and update your followers on your news and appearances.

The most powerful venues for indie artist music promotion are: local and regional events and online social networks.

Local and Regional Events:

Taking part in local events is an important ingredient of branding for an indie artist. Events to take part in include: singing contests, beauty pageants, various non-profit events and charities, and local networking events. You could be a "guest star", MC, judge, or guest speaker. The main point is to weave in your music promotion. For example, the host can give a brief introduction to your band plus mention your website, Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace page. If you are not sure how to proceed, call the event administrator and say that you want to volunteer; they will advise you. Do it for free and show everyone that it's your passion, and the money will follow. Local events really help to enhance your image as an entertainer and make people remember you.

Social Networks:

Social media is irreplaceable for artist promotion. You can use Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and YouTube to define who you are to your fans and connect with them. If you are looking to get signed to a record label, remember that many indie labels or major music companies today want to see that you can gain dedicated and loyal fans and retain them. They are looking for strong artistic vision & credibility, tour history, strong online presence, significant independent sales and potential brand value.

These days, independent music performers need compelling and creative marketing to reach their audience and interest indie record labels. There are myriads of songs for download on the internet and myriads of bands on social networks, so it is important to actively promote your own band and create name awareness for it. Remember: artist promotion takes time. Results will come, just wait and don't panic. If you consistently put your brand into the people's faces, they will remember you. Your unique expression together with an emotional experience should create a sound result. Let your public image follow you everywhere, just like your forum profile picture accompanies your every post on the forums.

Exploring The Cmaj7 Piano Chord

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

If you're curious about the Cmaj7 piano chord, you are probably exploring pop music and jazz, for that is where you will find that chord the most. It has a sweet, sometimes bittersweet quality that is hard to forget once you have heard it. Kids will say that it sounds "sugary."

It is a chord of the modern era, for you won't find it that often in popular music before the 1930's. As time progressed, it became a veritable substitute for the rather "churchy" C major chord. Of course, one can find examples as far back as Bach, who used it famously in the eighth bar of his C major Prelude from the Well Tempered Klavier.

To find out more about this piano chord, you must go back one step. Cmaj7 is a rather advanced four note chord, and is based on the simplest of three note chords, C major.

Here is a C major chord:

G
E
C

It is three keys stacked on top of each other, like books.

Here is the Cmaj7 chord:

B
G
E
C

You can see that it is the same arrangement as the C major chord but with an additional fourth note, B, placed on top. Notice the C is always on the bottom of both chords.

In your study of chords, it is best to start with the construction of three note chords (triads) before you move on to "seventh" chords, or four note chords.

If you are playing in the key of C, a Cmaj7 chord will consist of all white keys.

The chord reached its heyday in the 1950's and 1960's in the era of the modern crooner, for the chord has a romantic, fairy-tale sweet quality.

By the 1970's, it had been relegated to "elevator music" except for the Broadway theater, which has embraced it permanently and perhaps now partly defines the "Broadway" sound of theater music post 1970.

Post 2000, it appears in a lot of pop music, especially singers like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. In general, the chords of this era are frequently altered, that is, notes are substituted and left out constantly so the effect is never of a "standard" three note chord. Many times the middle note of the C chord is left out to give a more open sound.

Exploring these types of advanced chords is made easier for total beginners if you number the piano keys, rather than attempt to read complex seventh chords from sheet music.

Here's a link to an online piano where you can try out the Cmaj7 chord on a numbered keyboard. No musical skill is required at all to explore various types of chords if your keyboard is numbered. http://pianoiseasy2.com/dictionaryCmaj7.html

Understanding the C6 Chord

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

If you're playing pop music on the piano you have doubtless run across the C6 chord. There is a simple rationale that will help you to easily form chords like this, and the same rationale applies to all chords of this type, such as G6 or F6, and many more.

Assuming you know how to play a C chord, the C6 is a simple addition, a suffix, as it were.

The notes of the C chord are, from the bottom, C, E and G. The G is on the top.

To form the C6 chord, add a fourth note, A, on the top, right next to the G.

Now you have four notes: from the bottom, C, E, G, and A.

There's another way to calculate the C6 chord, or any sixth chord, for that matter.

From the top note (whatever it is, in the case of C6, it is G) play the next note, which is black, skip it, and go to the next note, which is A.

In other words, play a C chord (C, E, and G) and then skip the next note above the G, whether white or black, and add the note above that.

The reason for this rationale is that not all sixth chords will have a WHITE fourth note. Some will have a black key as the fourth note.

The sixth chord is useful in many styles, but predominantly in standard songs of the Big Band era, although you will see examples in all eras.

Gershwin, Rodgers and Berlin were all crazy for the sixth chord, and generally one can substitute a sixth chord for almost any major triad (three note chord.)

The probable reason for the addition of the sixth chord goes all the way back to Bach, who used them in many pieces in very subtle ways. But the real reason that the sixth chord became used more and more as history progressed was that it added thickness.

Think about it for a moment: a four note chord is thirty three percent thicker than a three note chord. As time went on, composers accepted this thicker sound and began to use it everywhere. The golden age of its usage was the Big Band era.

As the 1950's came in, the sixth chord became dated and reminded listeners of the previous era, and was thus shunned until the Beatles, who adopted it as a subtle sign of nostalgia.

Here's a link to a page where you can hear and play the sound of a C6 chord on a virtual piano: http://www.pianoiseasy2.com/dictionaryC6.html

Writing-4 tips to write a great melody

Let's look at a few ways to get a melody in your song.

1. Simple repetition

It is easy. You just repeat the same note over and over again. It is actually a great way to experiment with different rhythms possible to use in your melody, because if you have only a note in your melody, the only variable is the pace.

If you use this approach, it works usually better to edit a small note at the end of a line of melody. "Part of me" by Katy Perry are a good example of this. The first lines of the melody of the song are sung on a single note, until the last note of the line. Then, there is a change.

(2) A bottom-up model

A growing scale model can be an easy way to find a melodic pattern. You can experiment with different bottom-up models, in addition to your rhythms. For example, you can try using the first, second, third and fifth note of your scale. I will refer to as follows: 1-2-3-5. Or you can try the 1-3-5 notes of your scale. You can even try to repeat notes on your way up. Perhaps the notes of your melody will something like that, based on 1-1-2-2-3.

3. (A) the downward trend

If we can have (a) the ascending pattern as our basis, then we could also use a top-down model instead. You can use the notes to your song across to create models such as: 5-5-1 or 3-2-1.

4. (A) in the case of Zig zagging Pattern

Zig zagging the notes of the scale is another way to "forms" to the land of your melody. To create a diagram like this, simply jump you and then back again to down and then up again. Something like: 1-5-3-8.

When you experienced one of these different ways of organizing the lands of a scale to create a melody, you also mess with the pace of your notes. You can try and play all the notes as eight notes, but then that is the last note as a half note. Or reversing the order. Change the pace can give you a wide variety of sounds to come with.

Another way to change your tune when it is repeated, is to keep the rhythm, the same, but raise to pitch the second time you will hear. For example, if the notes you created in a single line of your melody are E-F-G, you can change their F-G-A, the second time they are sung. If you do this, you can keep the pace the same as in the first line, but you change your ground based only on the grounds being presented.

Segovia and bream

Many years I taught, I saw all the different types of approaches to practice and learn new songs. There is the style of practice that I call "the steamroller". This is where you someone who is steamrolls through the song, undermining the notes, with a total disregard for any technique or accuracy. That we, the audience end up hearing tends to look something like a steamroller on a heap of hammers. That!

Then there is the "deer in headlights". It is when a person is so shy and afraid to play the wrong note, that they end up playing at a snails pace. Their technique is excessive caution and they play so softly that the sound of my cat walking on the floor has a tendency to drown at their game.

Having read countless stories of my favourite musicians, I come through two broad approaches of two of the best guitar players that we have known. Andre Segovia was once regarded as the best classical guitar player in the world. When they passed, many people believe that the elite recognition was given to Julian Bream. Therefore this that practice more styles to consider!

Andre Segovia was questioned about its methods of practice and how he was able to play parts complex error free. Reply let us practice method and principle of formation. They said that when starting a new play, they play through it slowly. If they made a small error, they would let her go and make a mental note. The next time around the room, they would be sure correct the error.

Julian Bream asked a similar question. His response sounded arrogant, yet simple. "I never made a mistake." In fact, it was not an arrogant statement; He was just let us know his approach to practice. They have developed his response by saying: "I never played at a pace that would yield an error." This means that they never faster plays that they can manage. I find that somewhere between the two guitar Giants practice patterns is a good place to be. If you make a small mistake, let go and do the next time. Also, if you are too many mistakes, tell you to play in the room without errors. This will heighten your attention to a greater degree and will allow you to accelerate your progress.

I created these principles so that you can get the best out of your guitar playing. Testing and implementation strategy today. Have fun with it!

Best loved operas of Verdi's La Traviata

One of the most famous and best-loved of all time operas is Verdi's La Traviata. You will hear bits of the opera in films such as Pretty Woman Julia Roberts and Richard Gere and the drinking, Libiamo, song is bookmarks corporate entertainment events. Galas opera, Arias from the main heroine are often presented, and it provides the opportunity to really shine, soprano that she showcases her coloratura, high notes and melodic lines long.

What is - this on La Traviata that much, it's the feelings of the people? Have a look at this beautiful piece of music. The music is newly opened and poignant beauty. He has the most beautiful melodic lines, harmonies and wonderful musical depth. You can really understand the different characters in the music, they sing.

The history of La Traviata is one that seems to attract audiences emotionally too. There are three main characters; Violetta (soprano) who is a courtesan of her lover Alfredo (tenor), and his father, Germont (baritone). As with most operas, there are also smaller characters, but in this case they are not important to the story. The plot of La Traviata is fairly simple for a change. Violetta and Alfredo fall in love. Alfredo father Germont and Violetta manages to leave disapproved. Although being a courtesan, Violetta is a woman of great heart and not interested in the money of Alfredo. Alfredo does not understand why the leaves of Violetta. It is greatly upset and their separation is bitter. At the end of the opera, as Violetta died the father told him the truth, Alfredo. Alfredo gushes next to Violetta, but it is too late and Violetta died, they have little time after he gets it after just grey maken.

La Traviata is based on a suitable set of a book by Alexandre Dumas, the Lady of the camellias (la Dame aux cam?lias) called in 1852. Verdi wanted the opera to have a contemporary decor, but the authorities at the famous Opera House, La Fenice in Venice, insisted it had to be defined in the past. The first performance took place in 1853. It has not been a success during the night, but that had more to do with the leading lady, soprano Fanny Salvini-Donatelli, who was deemed too old and too fat to be trash generally present a character who is dying of consumption. The public has also taken a dislike for the opera singers professional Alfredo Germont, and clothing design and it was not until a few years later, and after a bit of revision by the composer as La Traviata has begun to be more successful. Today, in the opera houses and opera festivals around the world, it fails never to wow the public. Corporate entertainment events and opera arias and duets from La Traviata galas will always impress and move people. It is probably one of the most beloved operas of all time.

Zac Brown band free cage!

Zac Brown long-awaited 3rd album of the group "Uncaged" was finally released. They are a group known for pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a "law of the country". As Zac himself jokes on "Uncaged", "it is your record of music-reggae-jam bluegrass of the southern rock of the basic countries."

I would also add pop, RnB and prog rock in the list of genres that experience with confidence with ZBB is this new record.

As that might make it sound like this album suffers from a severe identity crisis, it is not. Somehow, they manage to spread their music tent, while retaining the heart, the soul and the character that they are in a group.

Throughout this album, the bands of the brand voice and sophisticated harmonies, exceptional voice of Zac is compatible wire that binds together of this record.

They blow things with the aptly titled "Jump Right In", and made the first happy chord.wav asynchronously with no warning, this is what you want to do exactly.

Zac sings "Let the music takes you, you could jump right in and jump right in, you could lose yourself once more...". "

It's a song to lift your spirits. I hear also comfortably seated is a radio playlists across the country. It is one of the greatest openers album that I've heard many times and I guess it is a massive hit for the group in the coming months. The melody of optimistic summer allows you to take a drive on a hot day with the roof just to increase the tempered glass of Sun on the horizon. "Jump Right In" shows ear band melody and a pop sensibility that is unparalleled.

They evolve somewhat and moving in a progressive rock sound is the song title of the recording of "Uncaged". You can hear influences of 60/70 general Zac designating pipeline through him, here. This song would have been perfect for live on the main stage played at Woodstock in 1969. Musicality accomplished group is more a time on this track. You can hear left loose and really fun arrangements. Uncaged highlights the element "band" by the Zac Brown Band.

Back in their zone of comfort with the captivating "Goodbye in his eyes", this where they sound completely at home. This song is haunting and compelling with a simple story which is universally understood... Heard you a tenderness in her voice that he delivers lines Zac;

"I could say that it is on when his lips met mine.

Vocals on this song are Zac jam filled with emotion, right of the opening line. The group is not in any way distract but rather enhances and supports the delivery of this beautiful ballad Zac. It brings to mind the old adage that sometimes "the song sings singer".

But before having time to relax too much, the band explode in their countries (and by far the fastest and most energetic) followed by the album. The band for this track as a "barn burner". In the case where someone was concerned that they were straying too far from countries like this should put all the spirits to rest.

That said however, the only and the song, for me that seems really out of place on this album is "island song". Zac performs this type of crossing of jam with a Jamaican accent, which comes through the false like many artificial too for my liking. Coupled with a groove and light lyrics Reggie made a difference too far from Zac Brown Band, in the heart of the who are at their best.

Bought this album more of itself is the next track, as he is going, in my view, the weaker song on the album, right in its most brilliant moment. "Sweet Annie" has all the marks of a classical song which will be held in the test of time. Zac has its own "hit is a Desperado" or "Weight" and it is a song that will be around many years to come.

Natural disaster is perfectly the stream is "Sweet Annie". It begins with a Hammond organ growling on which is based the silky voice of the BBZ. Launch of the battery with an energy that reveals a track with me to their counterparts British Mumford and Sons, and we are right in the barn with a whisky in our hands.

Another stylistic variance is "night". There is nothing wrong with the song by saying, but once again, that it feels significantly in his place with the overall feel of the album. It sounds just like his lost to another album and somehow found its way on this.

After that they return once more the sound of Zac Brown Band about us and to love, and there is no deviations more now until the end of the recording. "Song of the Lance" is a sweet mid tempo, classic country number complete with violin and banjo, peddle steel.

"Day I die" follows a path similar, full of musical hooks and excellent vocal performances. Here is the message of the life is Zac reflecting and how it is inextricably linked to the music.

"I think that I was born with a song Inside of me."

These are duets on the song with the incredibly talented Amos Lee. This duo is transparent and two-way voice blends wonderfully.

The album ends once again with an appropriately titled "Last But Not Least". (A) the song of a wife or girlfriend who must deal with a man in demand. This is a song that serves to remind us that these boys may wander in some musical pastures new but they are also where he bread is buttered and they return to the than his classic country.
